BOISE, Idaho (AP) - A year after a campaign was launched to warn teens and young adults away from methamphetamine through graphic television, radio, print and billboard ads, the Idaho Meth Project is targeting minority groups.
Idaho Meth Project Executive Director Megan Ronk says Spanish-language radio advertisements were launched in January and the group is discussing future efforts with tribes to reach Native Americans.
Ronk says the nonprofit geared its message toward the state's significant Hispanic population after Idaho's Department of Education released alarming statistics from a 2007 survey of high school students.
The Idaho Youth Risk Behavior Survey showed 14% of Hispanic students said they have used meth one or more times, compared to 5% of their white counterparts.
