Boise, Idaho -- A pickup truck slammed into two Idaho State Police Motorcycle troopers doing traffic duty on the interstate.

Idaho State Police say that it happened on Interstate 84 near the Gowen Road exit around 3:44 p.m. Thursday.

Police say a pick up truck was westbound and two motorcycle troopers were in the median facing east. For some unknown reason, the truck veered into the median and hit them both head on.

"They were working traffic and the westbound vehicle, the yellow pickup, was westbound and turned into them and hit them head on at a pretty high rate of speed," said Lt. Bryan Zimmerman, Idaho State Police.  "He veered off the road by about 30 feet before hitting them."

Some good news was that one of the officers hit, Cpl. John Vance, was up and walking at the scene. He was taken to St. Alphonsus Hospital where he was treated and released.

The second officer, Sgt. Chris Duggan, was also taken to St. Alphonsus where he was in serious condition as of Thursday night.

The driver of the pickup has been arrested and he's being questioned by police.
