Boise, Idaho -- Clipping coupons has taken on a whole new meaning.
In this recession, coupons are becoming a cool new tool for shoppers.
Most of us remember the days of clipping coupons with a pair of scissors. Well, those are still important, but a Internet opens a whole new world of savings.
Coupons, a computer, scissors, plus the ladies from Fabulessly Frugal, and you are on your way to saving tons!
Getting Started
When the Fabulessly Frugal gals get together they're talking deals.
Cathy Yoder started the website fabulesslyfrugal.com to make a little and save a lot. She has seven kids and knows the value of a deal.
"I used to buy the generic brands and try to save money any way I could. I would never buy "Capri Suns, now I get them for free," said Yoder, founder of fabulesslyfrugal.com.
Clipping coupons has become popular again, partly because times are tough and groceries are expensive.
"This is a perfect way and it's easy. Once you learn how to do it, it's an easy way to save money. And you'll kick yourself you didn't do it sooner," said Amber Abercrombie.
"You can cut them, and put them in a binder like I do, or print them off the Internet and take them to the store," said Monica Knight, co-owner of fabulesslyfrugal.com.
Knight says she used to spend about $500 dollars a month on groceries. She's cut that by more than half to only $200!
All three of the ladies have giant binders filled with coupons they take into stores.
"I was kind of embarrassed people are going to think I'm weird, but I don't care anymore. I'm saving so much money clipping these coupons, it doesn't' matter what people think. Cause they're not saving as much money as I am," said Knight.
A lot of people just don't have the time to do all that and time is money.
Not so fast say the Fab three.
"If you do it on your own, it does take too much time, but that's why we have the website. We do all the legwork for you. All you have to do is click," said Abercrombie.
The website is very easy to navigate. As you can probably tell, the name is not a typo, it really is www.fabulesslyfrugal.com.
Bottom line it doesn't cost a thing to try.
