Boise, Idaho -- Last Valentines Day, Dane Spencer, an Olympic giant slalom skier from Boise, nearly died on a ski slope in Montana.
The accident left him hospitalized for months with a broken neck and pelvis, and it was questionable whether he'd ever ski again, let alone walk.
But by May, he was in fact walking, but the medical bills were growing.
To help out, friend and teammate, Jeret "Speedy" Peterson has created the Dane Spencer Golf Tournament, to help Spencer pay for the mounting expenses.
"It's really awesome, it just feels really great to have people behind me. Teammates like Jeret, and friends and family too that I'm sure will want to play in the tournament -- it just feels really good, and Boise is just really supportive that way," said Spencer.
Now he does have insurance, but there's still a practically insurmountable debt left to pay.
If you'd like to participate in the tournament, it will be held October 13th at Falcon Crest Golf Course.
