Boise, Idaho -- A man who allegedly dressed as a chef employed at Qwest Arena in order to steal people's belongings is behind bars.
For the last several weeks, officers had been investigating a number of thefts at the venue, but it was an alert employee who helped nab the suspect.
Now 22-year-old Matthew Peppersack is facing felony burglary and grand theft charges, along with a misdemeanor trespassing.
Officers say the employee spotted him late Saturday night wearing what appeared to be a chef's jacket and carrying a mop and knew something wasn't right.
"And when he was originally confronted, it's my understanding he said he was there to clean up a spill, but the employee didn't buy that. He noticed he didn't have any ID, noticed he didn't recognize him from any previous contacts as being an employee, and did a good bit of work by detaining him and calling police," said Lt. Alan Cavener, with the Boise Police Department.
The investigation is still ongoing and more theft charges may be filed.
