Treasure Valley, Idaho -- Mild temperatures are helping keep flooding risks to a minimum, but, the National Weather Service says a warm Pacific storm with rain could still spell trouble if it hit our region.
Such a storm would cause the snowpack to melt rapidly and increase flood danger.
Right now forecasters are closely watching certain rivers that wouldn't be able to handle a sudden large increase in run off.
"So we did see the Weiser respond to low elevation rain and snowmelt about 1/4 of an inch late Friday night into Sunday morning. Flood stage is well above the top of the chart here. So yes, we'll continue to see some fluctuations on the river, a slow decrease of the snow pack," said Valerie Mills, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
The Weiser River is the main concern because it doesn't have dams like the Boise River.
The Boise River is less of a worry right now because the Boise reservoir system is only at 45 percent of capacity.
