Boise, Idaho -- The family of a fallen soldier from Boise is talking about their loss for the first time.
Members of Sgt. Michael Lilly's family wanted to thank everyone for the overwhelming support. The 23 year old was killed in Iraq last week and was the second Idaho soldier to die in as many days.
His wife and parents described Lilly as a leader, one who was always willing to help others and fulfilled his dream of becoming a soldier.
Lilly's mother, Vicky Egbert, says she always prayed for his safety when she heard of other fallen troops.
"I would pray it wasn't him, I would pray for the families of other soldiers when it wasn't him and I would pray for the strength to make it through if it was ever him," said Egbert.
Lilly was a 2002 graduate of Borah High School and his name will be placed on a monument honoring former students who died serving their country.
His funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon at one at St. Mark's Catholic church in Boise and he will be buried with honors at the Idaho Veteran's Cemetery.
