Boise, Idaho -- A judge has ruled to allow convicted killer Joseph Duncan to represent himself during his sentencing hearing.
Though Duncan was repeatedly questioned about his decision to go without council in the death penalty case, he refused to change his mind.
In the end, the judge had little choice but to grant the request, since Duncan has been found mentally competent by a series of mental health evaluations.
Sentencing in the case was suspended last May when Duncan first asked to dismiss his attorneys, saying they couldn't "ethically represent my ideologies," said Duncan.
There is no word on whether he will attempt to question Shasta Groene, the sole survivor of the attack on her family, during the hearing.
