Eagle, Idaho -- Future rock stars of the Treasure Valley duked it out during Saturday's Battle of the Bands.
Many will enter but only one will survive. Here's proof of why you can rock at any age. Shadraq is only 12 years old, but he's been playing guitar for half of his life.
"It's like a slap technique, you hit the string and you pluck it with the other string," said Shadraq, who competed in Battle Of The Bands.
He's competed for four years -- one of which he won. His band "Nique and boys" was one of 12 groups facing off on the stage Saturday. All the contestants are under 18 and many are students of ArtsWest School For The Performing And Visual Arts. Each band had a chance to play one or two songs.
"Its just fun to play with them, just chill and just talk and play music together. It's fun," said Shadrach.
"We did pretty good. You always focus on the mistakes and feel like you can better, but what are you gonna do? It was fun," said Mark Larson.
All genre's of music were welcome, many of the kids even wrote some of their own songs.
"They're giving them a really good head start getting our school and everything then starting music. Sometimes it's too late for people, at that point I think it's an amazing thing what they're doing, " said John Nuhn, who judged the battle.
"I don' t know. It just comes through me and I just kind of rock out and jam with my band, just do my thing," said Shadrach.
