Boise, Idaho -- A new bronze statue was unveiled at the Boise Airport to honor Idaho Veterans.
Artist Benjamin Victor designed the statue to appear as if the soldier were walking out on the airfield. All the clothing and gear are authentic. They were modeled from a local World War II vet's actual gear. The art work was sculpted in clay at the Warhawk Air Museum last November and dedicated Monday.
"Everybody that was involved in that time period had a sense of patriotism. It shows through to our day and age, and I really enjoyed every second of meeting them, and to have them hear today is quite an honor," said Victor.
The project took a year from start to finish and cost $90,000.
