Big Name In Wheelchair Bodybuilding In Boise

Boise -- Local fitness giant, BodyBuilding.com, is hosting an expo tonight with a host of nutrition information, and some of the hottest bodies and names in fitness both locally and nationally. Gracing the stage tonight is special guest performer Nick Scott. He's one of BodyBuilding.com's sponsored athletes...but at 27 years old he's been through and accomplished more than your average competitor.

"Its gone from nowhere to the top in three years it's awesome," said Nick Scott.

But things haven't always looked this good for Nick Scott. In 1998, he rolled his car 5.5 times and was ejected out of the drivers side window. His own vehicle struck him and broke his back. He was diagnosed as a paraplegic..and told he'd never walk again.

'After my accident I got depressed gained a bunch of weight it went up to 300 pounds it's just personal to me because I felt like I died inside," said Scott.

But by his Senior year Nick walked across his High School stage to receive his diploma. That was the beginning of a change in his life. Nick is now one of the leading competitors in wheelchair body building.

"You basically have two choices either you can let it get you down and be depressed and your life can pass you by for years, or still deal with the problem but look for help look for doing rehab look to better yourself," said Scott.

And has he ever. Nick's mission is to make wheelchair body building into a pro-sport. Right now the highest level competitors can reach is the national stage, but unlike regular body building, that doesn't earn you a pro-card.

"Once I started competing I fell in love with the sport seeing the other competitors on stage with disabilities overcoming I don't know I just wanted to take it to that next level to do that I wanted to lead by example," said Scott.

He placed first in the 2009 Wheelchair National Competition, heavy weight division.
