Nampa, Idaho -- A prison escapee is back behind bars, but not before doing some major damage around Nampa Tuesday Morning.
Nineteen-year-old Emmanuel Jones was only a minimum security risk in the first place. But this whole escapade most likely added quite a few years to his sentence.
"They (Corrections officials) were doing a random count and they noticed he was missing. They don't have any eyewitnesses who saw him go over the fence, but they're assuming he went over the fence," said Teresa Jones, Idaho Corrections spokesperson.
He escaped from the North Idaho Correctional Institution in Cottonwood early Tuesday morning and was spotted in Canyon County in what police believed to be a stolen pickup truck.
"They engaged in a pursuit with that vehicle and the pursuit lasted about three to four minutes," said Craig Kingsbury with Nampa Police Department.
The chase took Nampa Police all over east and south Nampa.
"At which time one of the officers involved in the chase, attempted to do a pursuit mobilization, or a pit maneuver. The officer made at least two attempts at that, unfortunately it didn't stop the suspect from fleeing," said Kingsbury.
The officer lost control and hit a telephone pole at 11th and 12th street south, but it wasn't done there. After a pretty long pursuit, the subject crashed into a few other things. He finally stopped on Happy Valley Road.
Along the way he also managed to sideswipe a fence at a house at Amity and Chicago. Finally, a flat tire brought the chase to an end on Happy Valley Road.
"Any escape we take very seriously. We get law enforcement involved and we're always grateful when we have a resolution where nobody is injured, " said Teresa. "Quite often we find, if anybody escapes, they're going home to see mom or a girlfriend, to do something at home."
Emmanuel faces numerous charges, including escape and felony eluding police. He was initially in prison for burglary and eluding police in Canyon County.
