Census seeks workers to help count in Idaho

Associated Press - March 5, 2010 11:44 AM ET

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) - Officials with the U.S. Census Bureau say they're short on qualified applicants for temporary jobs.

Kris Grimshaw, the assistant manager for recruiting at the Boise Census office, says the bureau has hired about 400 people to administer the population count for the area from Ada County to the Canadian border. But Grimshaw says another 1,500 or so workers are needed for the region. And there's only four weeks left for people to vie for those slots.

The Coeur d'Alene Press reports that the jobs are all short term, ranging from four to 10 weeks. They pay about $12.25 an hour.
