Treasure Valley, Idaho -- The Treasure Valley boasts to be a place where you can hit the links year-round.
Well, you might be able to get on the course, but some may not call that golfing.
"(In December) the greens were frozen, the ball bounced about 10 feet in the air, it was interesting," said Chuck Yoast of Caldwell.
Fresh off a recent trip to Phoenix, Yoast called the 60 degrees temps this week "cold."
But a little bit of sunshine, and even the slightest breath of warm air and, "It's 'marbelous.' Simply 'marbelous,'" said a joyful Jerry Harris, relaxing in his golf cart while making the turn at Centennial Golf Course in Nampa.
Spring has sprung. Maybe not on the calendar, but four out of five spring-like days? That's good enough to get the masses out teeing off.
"Things are picking up real nicely," said Ross Boudreaux, who works in the pro shop at Hunter's point golf course in southern Nampa.
"Knocking the dust off our clubs here," said Aaron Neal.
"People are going to come out and play some golf. I think this year is going to be a good year," said John Lewis, head pro at Centennial.
Lewis said Centennial is ready. March means spring rates, and the change has already seen the tee-time sheet filling up this week.
At Hunter's Point, they're getting the best of both worlds. Even though the "old man" seems to have packed it up, winter rates are still good to the tune of less than a buck a hole.
"It's starting to build up, so once you brush off those cobwebs, it's a great time to try this course out," said Boudreaux.
Now, as for those year-rounders who've, for the most part, enjoyed a course to themselves, "It'll be a little harder to get out here. It'll be a lot more crowded from here on out," said Gary Neal, just after teeing off on the 10th tee at Centennial.
"I hate it. I like it when nobody's pushing me," said Harris.
That's why Yoast says the next few weeks may be the best time to grab the clubs.
"Not many people, decent weather. If the wind would go down just a little bit, it'd be great," said Yoast.
Here are some deals we found: Hunter's Point is selling season passes for $799 and you can buy a second -- what they call a buddy pass -- for $200 more.
At Eagle Hills in Eagle and Lakeview in Meridian, they have passes for $100 to $120 dollars, respectively, for golf and goodies valued at about $1000 apiece.
Winter rates are still available, at least through the weekend, at the following: Falcon Crest in Kuna, Indian Lakes in Boise, and Ridgecrest in Nampa.
