Boise, Idaho -- Stephen Young was arraigned in Ada County court Monday, charged with four counts of lewd conduct with a minor under 16.
Ada County Prosecutors say the former Boise police officer allegedly molested the infants under 3 years old at various places throughout Ada County.
But prosecutors also say there are a lot more victims, possible more than a dozen.
"The state has a very strong case against the defendant. He essentially did turn himself in, on lewd conduct, dating back 30 years. We have developed 13 named victims, the state has charged for four, and is anticipating more," said Ada County Deputy Prosecutor Jean Fisher.
Fox 12 News asked Young's attorney, Kirk Anderson, for an interview and he told us "no comment".
It didn't appear that any of Young's immediate family were in the courtroom. We're told that his estranged wife and his children are not supporting him in this case. Prosecutors say that they're supporting the prosecution.
"However, I can tell the court that his family, he is disenfranchised from his family. He's estranged from his wife. His children, since this investigation started, have expressed to the state, they are very concerned about him getting out. His estranged wife is very concerned about him coming home," said Fisher.
During the arraignment, 58 year-old Young didn't utter a single word.
The judge made it very clear he was not to have any contact with his estranged wife or any of his alleged victims and set bail at $250,000.
Young served for more than thirty years with theBPD.
Now he's looking at a maximum life in prison if convicted on the charges.
His preliminary hearing is set for March 22.
